Ambitious - Consistent - Highend

Ambitious and precise work requires quality tools which ensure constant operating conditions and permanently stable performance properties. With the ceramic nozzle of 3M™ these requirements are met at an attractive price. Especially the resistance, which is ensured by 3M™ boron carbide, 3M™ silicon carbide or 3M™ boron nitride, allows commercial and reproducible results, which has proven successful in practical use.

3M™ Boron Carbide and Silicon Carbide Blast Nozzles

As the world leader in high-performance ceramics, 3M™ has been producing boron carbide and silicon carbide (previously: TETRABOR® boron carbide blast nozzles and EKasic® silicon carbide blast nozzles) for decades. Through our ongoing research and material development program, and by watching the market, we have steadily expanded our blast nozzle range, and can offer products of first-class quality and technology. 3M™ Boron Carbide (B4C) and 3M™ Silicon Carbide (SiC) blast nozzles are now successfully used all over the world.

3M™ Boron Carbide (B4C) Blast Nozzles

3M™ Boron Carbide (B4C) Blast Nozzles pay off thanks to their extreme resistance. The boron carbide with a density of more than 2.50 g/cm3 offers clear advantages:

  • Outstanding cost benefits thanks to its extreme wear resistance
  • Low air consumption through minimal widening of the bore
  • Constant operating conditions and uniform blasting performance
  • Unrivalled service life with all blasting agents

3M™ Silicon Carbide (SiC) Blast Nozzles

3M™ Silicon Carbide (SiC) Blast Nozzles also offer a range of advantages:

  • Outstanding cost efficiency
  • Infrequent maintenance
  • Constant operating conditions and uniform blasting performance

3M™ Boron Carbide and Silicon Carbide Spray Nozzles

For atomizing abrasive and corrosive media or suspensions, it is essential to use the appropriate nozzles. A long lifetime and constant spray conditions are the principle requirements to ensure a reproducible, cost-effective process.

    Product Program and Properties

Spray nozzles made of 3M™ Silicon Carbide and 3M™ Boron Carbide meet these conditions thanks to their outstanding properties:

    • Extreme abrasion resistance
    • Universal corrosion resistance
    • Chemical inertness

    Application Fields

3M™ Spray Nozzles are used in chemical processes engineering, such as flue-gas desulfurization, homogenization and spray drying.

3M™ Boron Carbide (B4C) Dental Nozzles

Through intensive market development, 3M™ has developed an extensive range of dental and fine jet nozzles that meet the toughest industrial conditions.

    Applications and Product Range

Under the brand name TETRABOR® dental and blast nozzles (previously: TETRABOR® dental and fine jet nozzles) from a custom-developed boron carbide material. These 3M™ Boron Carbide Nozzles are top-quality products. With our unique injection molding process, we are your specialist for micro blast nozzles in areas such as cleaning and modeling of, e.g., denture constructions, matting or engraving of glass or lapping of machine parts. 3M™ supplies dental nozzles with an interior diameter of 0.6 mm until 1.8 mm. On request, we will develop individual solutions to our customers’ specifications.

3M™ Boron Nitride (BN) Break Rings and Casting Nozzles

Continuous casting is one of the most common metal manufacturing technologies. The liquid metal flows from a tundish into the mold, in which the strand shell is formed. The metal strand is then taken off continuously or intermittently, at a speed and solidification rate appropriate to the particular alloy. The ceramic break ring or the nozzle comes into contact with both the melt and the solidified alloy, and must satisfy correspondingly strict requirements:

    • Chemical resistance to the solidified metal, i.e. no contamination of the alloy
    • Good sliding properties, i.e. does not stick to the alloy
    • High thermal shock resistance
    • Defined thermal conductivity
    • High wear resistance
    • Easy to machine

    Product Solutions and Applications

On the basis high-quality boron nitride composites 3M™ develops and produces boron nitride break rings and casting nozzles (previously ESK MYCROSINT®). These products are adapted to different metal alloys and increase the lifetimes for the following metals:

    • Steels of all kinds
    • Copper alloys
    • Nickel alloys
    • Superalloys
    • Precious metals, particularly gold alloys
